As Dundas FC’s home field has become more and more mashed up as a result of the ruthless exploits of the Toronto Eagles youth soccer club, we have been forced to explore other possibilities for a location for our Saturday morning training sessions.
It seems artificial turf is an ideal surface and we have located a unique spot called the Canoe Landing Park.
Canoe Landing Park is an eight-hectare urban park in downtown Toronto adjacent to the Gardiner Expressway and the Rogers Centre that received its name on November 2009.
The Park was designed by Landscape Architects Phillips Farevaag Smallenberg of Vancouver in collaboration with Landscape Architects, The Planning Partnership of Toronto and Douglas Coupland. The park incorporates art pieces by Douglas Coupland: a canoe large enough for people to stand in and see over the Gardiner to Lake Ontario, a colourful display of large fishing bobbers, and a one-mile run called the Terry Fox Miracle Mile.
We will meet there this Saturday, Sept. 25 from 10:30-12:30 a.m. to assess the viability of moving full-time to this location. Please bring cleats and turf shoes and a ball if you have one. Please see map below for location. The field is outlined in red, click to enlarge.

Lots of people have cars (not me though). But this isn’t tough to get to on bike…
How’d the new pitch work out?
Good spot. Kinda tough to get to but not impossible. Tough to do anything with only two people though…
