The Glory Game Begins

Dundas Football Club

Who are we: We are a new (or newly revived) co-ed recreational and competitive soccer club that looks to bring together a group of creative like-minded soccer people to participate and build on the culture and lifestyle that soccer inspires. We are inspired by the Chinatown Soccer Club in New York City and The Ringleaders FC in Montreal. We are based in the West end of downtown Toronto, hence the name Dundas Football Club. Our current home field is a small patch of grass with a couple of small goals at a school at College and Brock called Brock Junior Public School. It’s perfect for five-aside games. We are looking for a better field in that area. If you know of any please let us know.

What ever happened to that soccer store you were opening: We had problems with the landlord and the opening has unfortunately been delayed. We now aim to open Spring 2011. This club and our store will go hand-in-hand. Or foot-in-foot I guess…

Will we have teams in leagues: That is the goal. It would be great to assemble two squads: A competitive mens squad and a co-ed recreational squad. The plan is to have weekly pick-up games/practices open to all members of Dundas Football Club. We are starting small with weekly pick-up games to gauge interest first. We will also look to enter teams in charity soccer tournaments in Toronto like last year’s Athletes For Africa event at Cherry Beach.

How do I join: Just send back an e-mail to saying that you are interested in being a part of Dundas Football Club and come out to our weekly pick-up games (currently scheduled for 10:30 a.m. each Saturday rain or shine). You will be included in all future Dundas Football Club correspondences.

Can I invite others: Sure, but please run it by us first. We will then get in touch with them.

Our first Saturday pick-up game will be this Saturday, April 24 at 10:30 a.m. at Brock Junior Public School. Bring a light shirt, a dark shirt and a ball if you have one. We plan on playing for about an hour. Depending on response we can look for a different location or maybe do a different time, but we want to keep it to weekend mornings if possible.
