After doing a fantastic job fundraising money for war-affected children in Uganda and the Democratic Republic of Congo (A total of $4,148!!!), Dundas Football Club was drawn into the Group of Death at the second annual Athletes For Africa Rock The Pitch Charity Tournament on Saturday.

Facing the Media All-Stars (a team which included current CBC pundit and former Canadian captain Jason De Vos) in the first match, Dundas FC lost 3-2 and looked likely to pull back an equalizer had the Media All-Stars not wasted time at the end of the game. This early loss was followed by a 5-0 victory over Sugar Footballers. The momentum from this team-building triumph was lost in a 2-1 defeat in the third game of the round robin stage against Diego’s Return. Dundas Football Club, unable to advance to the knockout stages, then finished the day with a slow-paced 1-1 draw with the Red Patch Boys.

On one of the most disgustingly sticky hot days of the summer, Dundas Football Club lost a couple of players throughout the day but were still able to rack up decent sized bill at Shoeless Joe’s after the tournament finished. Special thanks to Marc De Pape, a Dundas Football Club supporter who was able to live his dream when he jumped into the lineup for the final game.
